V10 F-53 Front Sway Bar Installation Instructions

1 Sway bar
1) Locate vehicle on a solid level surface. It may or may not require raising the vehicle to access the sway bar and mounting hardware.
2) Remove existing front sway bar by removing the four mounting bolts located at the upper drop link position left and right at the frame being careful not to allow the bar swing down uncontrolled.
3) Remove and retain the four bolts and nuts attaching the sway bar to the axle. Remove the sway bar and discard.
4) Install crossmember to the axle reusing the bolts and nuts from prior step. Crossmember should be installed with relief to the top solid side to the bottom (as a u-shape). Torque bolts to proper torque (Torque Chart at end of instructions).
5) Install drop links to frame brackets, use 1/2 flat washer between drop link and bracket. Install left and right frame brackets using the 1/2x1 3/4 bolts, nuts and flat washers. The frame brackets should be mounted with the "L" end toward the rear of the vehicle. Torque bolts to proper torque.
6) Install "D" bushings onto the sway bar. Use of a small amount of synthetic grease on the bushing will prolong life, but is not necessary. Mount sway bar to the crossmember using 1/2x1 3/4 bolts a washer on the bolt and the nut side and a locknut. Leave bolts loose to facilitate assembly.
7) Remove nut, washer and bushing from drop link on each side. Raise the bar to the drop links install the bushing, washer and nut on each side. Tighten nuts just enough to remove clearance between bushings. Do not crush or over tighten the bushings.
8) Torque bolts attaching the sway bar to the crossmember.
9) Check for clearance of all existing hoses and mounting brackets to ensure there is no interference.
